Prominent lawyer Sandra Moran has died of cancer at her Wellington. She was 61.
Ms Moran, a defamation law specialist, was a principal of the Wellington law firm of Oakley Moran.
She was an Independent Newspapers Ltd (INL) board member for 20 years.
Ms Moran was the first woman to be elected president of the Wellington District Law Society, in 1989.
She served on many organisations, including the Medical Practitioners' Disciplinary Tribunal and Cancer Standards Institute and was an independent adviser to ACC's medical misadventure unit and treatment injury unit.
She died on Saturday.
