The wintry weather is putting pressure on the Auckland City Mission.
City Missioner Diane Robertson says surviving winter often requires additional spending, which means families with nothing to spare, may go without.
She says the mission's stocks are low after a huge increase in the number of people needing help over the past 12 months.
Diane Robertson says that has put pressure on the mission's ability to provide families with food parcels.
She says the mission is welcoming any monetary, food or bedding donations.
