A woman driver who hit a police officer as she drove through a drink/drive checkpoint in the Bay of Plenty at the weekend was found to be more than four times over the legal limit.
Sergeant Dan Roser told the Bay of Plenty Times the woman approached the checkpoint at Papamoa, Tauranga, about 7.15pm on Saturday, travelling about 50km/h and only slowed at the last moment, hitting the officer with a glancing blow on the side of her car.
The officer was not hurt.
The woman was charged with drink- and careless-driving and suspended from driving for 28 days.
