Hawke's Bay residents were shaken by two medium strength earthquakes within a short time this morning.
The first, measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale, struck at 5.47am.
It was centred 20km northeast of Napier at a depth of 30km. The second, measuring 4.2, struck at 8.51am and was centred 40km east of Gisborne at a depth of 25km. There were no reports of injury or damage.
