The Government has axed support for the national body of community housing providers.
Housing Minister Phil Heatley has told Community Housing Aotearoa he wants the $20 million a year earmarked for community housing to go into building houses, rather than paying "bureaucrats".
Auckland Housing Association trustee Alan Johnson, who is vice-chairman of Community Housing Aotearoa, said the board meeting next week would have to consider winding up.
But chairman Andrew Wilson said he hoped the organisation could survive with project-by-project funding.
