The media is challenging a judge's decision to impose a blanket ban on coverage of a depositions hearing for the men accused over the killing south Auckland liquor store co-owner Navtej Singh.
In Manukau District Court today, Judge A'e'au Semi Epati issued a temporary blanket suppression order over the hearing including the names of the accused and the charges they face.
Mr Singh, 30, was shot in June last year while working in his Riverton liquor store in Manurewa East as he was handing over money to robbers. He died the next day.
Tonight media representatives indicated they would challenge the ban.
The hearing is expected to run for two weeks.
