KEY POINTS:
Police are appealing for public help after a bank robbery in East Tamaki, Auckland today.
Inspector Kerry Watson of northern police communications said a man entered the ANZ bank on Highbrook Drive shortly after 2.30pm.
The man led staff to believe he had a firearm and, soon after, left the bank in a stolen vehicle driven by a second man, Mr Watson said.
It was not known if anything had been taken.
The car, a white Mitsubishi station wagon, was found shortly afterwards, abandoned in Lorien Place.
Police were seeking information from the public who may have seen this vehicle, the offenders at the bank, Lorien Place or in the Auckland area over the past few days.
The man who entered the bank was described as either Maori or Polynesian, aged between 20 and 25, and wearing a dark hooded top.
