KEY POINTS:
Two banks were victims of similar robberies in Christchurch this afternoon.
At 1.45pm a male Caucasian entered the ANZ bank on the corner of Cathedral Square and Hereford St and gave a note to a teller demanding money. A sum of money was handed over.
In another incident at 2.15pm a male Caucasian entered the Westpac Bank on Riccarton Rd and also handed over a note demanding money.
Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey said that police were investigating both incidents but it was too early to say if they were connected.
Anyone with information or who witnessed either was asked to contact police.
