KEY POINTS:
The New Zealand Defence Force is apparently as scared of the media as it is of terrorists and foreign intelligence agents.
In the September issue of Air Force News, NZDF's Counter Intelligence and Security Operations manager Peter Jackson warned of the threat to the force's assets and information.
It was "real and comes from a variety of sources".
Among them he noted the usual suspects - foreign intelligent agents, terrorists and criminals.
But he didn't forget "issue motivated groups", "disaffected individuals" - and the media.
Mr Jackson targeted "certain elements of the media" which he didn't pinpoint.
But he said some of them were known to have used deception in their pursuit of the next big "scoop".
Mr Jackson advised defence personnel to "stay vigilant and report suspicious activity".
