Fly My Pretties are back, only this time round band leader Barnaby Weir has selected a cast of musicians from all around New Zealand rather than just Wellington.
Weir, from reggae chart-toppers the Black Seeds, along with FMP regulars Mike Fabulous, Jarney Murphy, Nato Hickey, and Tessa Rain, are joined by 12 others including singer Lisa Tomlins and musicians Anna Coddington, Paul McLaney (Gramsci), Tom Watson (Cassette/HLAH), and former TrinityRoots members Riki Gooch and Rio Hunuki-Hemopo.
As with previous Fly My Pretties events, the seven shows this year, including three performances at Auckland's Sky City Theatre from June 4-6, will be recorded for a CD/DVD package.
A new element this year will be Weir's father Dick - creator and presenter of Radio New Zealand kids show Ears - who will join the crew on stage to narrate a story that will be incorporated into the live show.
The adventure story, written by the father and son pair, will be available as a book, illustrated by up-and-coming artist Kieran Rynhart.
