KEY POINTS:
A highly collectable 1969 Boss 429 Mustang headlines Australian auction house Shannons' offering at next month's Sydney motor show.
Created for Ford's NASCAR racing programme, the Boss 429s were designed to hit 320km/h thanks to their Hemi-headed 7-litre V8 engine.
The fully restored red, left-hand-drive example is one of just 800 specially built for Ford by legendary race car builders Kar Kraft. It is expected to fetch around A$320,000 to A$350,000 ($386,000 to $422,500).
Another potent American V8 muscle car from the same era up for grabs is a left-hand-drive 1970 Pontiac GTO coupe that has covered just 28,000km from new and should sell for around A$50,000.
Australian cars in the auction include a 1969 Falcon XW GT HO Phase I, expected to sell for about A$180,000, and a 1973 Falcon XA GT.
