The Sweetwaters Festival has added four more international acts to its bill.
English reggae stars and frequent New Zealand tourists UB40 return to appear at the festival they last played in 1983.
Veteran American art-rockers Pere Ubu, which have disbanded and reformed a few times in their 23-year history, will make their first New Zealand appearance on the Sweetwaters stage.
Old school American rappers Run DMC, undergoing a career revival, will bring up the event's hip-hop quotient.
Critically-feted American singer-songwriter Mark Linkous and his outfit Sparklehorse, which recently released a second album Good Morning Spider, provides a welcome injection of relatively new musical blood to the programme.
They join Elvis Costello, Henry Rollins, the Finn Brothers, Grant Lee Buffalo, the Mad Professor, the Stranglers, Cowboy Junkies and Donovan among a big local line-up and Australian contingent at the festival to be staged at Puhinui Reserve, Manukau City, from January 22-25.
