KEY POINTS:
Not content with his successful line of cookbooks, TV shows, restaurants and homewares, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has launched his own food magazine.
Titled jamie magazine, the 130-page debut issue hit the shelves of British newsagents at the weekend filled with recipes, articles, reviews and photographs - many by Oliver himself.
There's also an interview with Hollywood star Brad Pitt, who reveals he can "rock a Sunday barbecue" but "that's as far as my culinary talents go", as well as a column by the chef's wife, Jools "I'm really not much of a foodie" Oliver.
Publishing a magazine has been "a dream of mine for many years", Oliver confides to his readers, telling them he hopes the title will "create a more personal relationship between us all and really push the boundaries of simple and aspirational recipes".
While Oliver bills himself as "editor-at-large", he lured the former editorial director of Australia's Gourmet Traveller magazine, Andy Harris, from Sydney to run the magazine. Harris, whom Oliver describes as "the best food editor in the world", says the magazine will be published bi-monthly.
The magazine went on sale with hardly any pre-publicity or a glitzy launch but still managed to sell more than 10,000 copies in its first two days.
While Oliver's fans were keen to snap up his latest offering, it has not been to everyone's taste. The Daily Telegraph questioned whether Oliver's magazine was "big enough for his ego".
