The leaked clip offers a brief titbit of the Hall of Faces featuring Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister, Arya Stark and her parents Eddard Stark and Catelyn Stark.
The teaser is set in the House of Black and White and focuses on the Hall of Faces while an eerie whisper lingers in the background.
Among the wall are the emotionless faces of those who have died including Ned Stark, Jon Snow and even the much disliked Joffrey.
"The man who passes the sentence, can swing the sword," a voiceover of Stark plays.
The trailer features some of the series' most important characters, reciting their famous lines from their living days, as well as a short insight into the fate of heroic favourite Jon Snow.
"The long night is coming," Snow says as the camera slowly pans south, hovering over the face of Tyrion Lannister.
"And the dead come with it."
Hold on a minute... did HBO just reveal Tyrion Lannister is dead?
Many fans were left disgruntled by the new teaser, annoyed by the clip's lack of actual footage from the upcoming season.
A fan on YouTube posted under the leaked video: "Seriously, what the f***? I get that it's a teaser but could they not have at least included some new dialogue, or brief clips of the new season? Just something other than old lines and old characters. We've usually had a 2 minute trailer by now.?"
Other Game of Thrones fans posted their disappointment on Twitter:
However, it wasn't all bad. A lot of fans were just happy to have something new, one fan on YouTube posted in the comments: "Why are so many people disappointed!? It's a teaser! It is fascinating but doesn't betray any happening in the new season. In my opinion. the teaser is (yeah, in a certain way) completely exciting! Can't wait for season 6 anymore!?.?"
