Roads near the Whakatane airport have been cordoned off as police hunt for a man who fled when police executed a search warrant today.
The man took off from the property when police arrived about 10am, Inspector Andy Brill from northern police communications said.
He would not say which road the property was on.
Police were now cordoning off areas near the airport as part of their search.
"There's no suggestion that the public needs to be worried," Mr Brill said.
