A New Zealand businessman suspected of being murdered in Fiji died from liver complications and not as a result of a beating, Fiji police say.
Former West Coast hotelier Tony Groom, 55, who ran a charter boat business in Nadi, was attacked in a rough part of the town on July 8 but was not admitted to hospital until he collapsed on July 16. He died on July 21.
Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri told Radio Fiji that police had received the post mortem results which showed he died from liver complications.
He said there were visible signs of injury to Mr Groom's body but they were not related to his death and the investigation into his death would now closed.
Mr Groom is survived by a daughter.
