LIMA - A star racehorse in Peru ended its days on dinner plates after thieves butchered it for meat.
AFP reports that six-year-old thoroughbred Drilling for Oil was a victim in the scheme, in which horse fillets were sold as beef.
The $410,000 racehorse was taken from a pasture where he was grazing.
Police found parts of the horse - his head, feet, tail and bones - in a town 140km south of Lima.
The thieves who stole Drilling for Oil have not yet been found, police said.
