The condition of the seven-year-old Welcome Bay boy who was hit by a car on Monday has improved this morning.
Welcome Bay boy Rawiri Wilson-Te Whata had been playing hide and seek with family and friends when he was called across the road for dinner and struck by the car on Meander Drive.
He was rushed to Tauranga Hospital in with serious injuries and later transferred to Auckland's Starship Children's Hospital, where up until last night he remained in a critical but stable condition.
A Starship spokeswoman said this morning the boy was now in a 'stable' condition.
In a story in today's paper, Rawiri's family have expressed their immense gratitude to the community support they have been shown since the crash.
