On the same day, there will also be basketball, backyard games and seed-growing activities as the days continue the pattern of a variety of things to occupy youngsters at each event.
One of the most exciting newcomers is the Bay Steamers Academy. Academy members will be on hand for skills activities, games and prizes, with a water activity to finish the session, on January 23.
Equally exciting is the visit of Circability on January 21.
Circability delivers classes, workshops and community events for all ages, all abilities and all cultures, using social circus as a tool for developing personal confidence, physical and emotional literacy, and wellbeing, connecting people and sharing joy.
Kabaddi is another new sport with two clubs - Dashmesh and Lion Brothers - on hand to teach youngsters about the game.
Other activities include the return of the always-popular American Football, football with Te Puke Junior Football Club, cricket and Mainly Music.
There will be food available each day.
“Organisations doing that include The Daily, the Tauranga Indian Women’s Association and Rapid Relief, and there will be a couple of sausage sizzles,” says Beks.
“Poutiri, Sport Bay of Plenty and Parafed are supporting it again massively and we are really stoked to have them back again.”
The Summer in the Park activities are for all ages and activities run from 10am-1pm at Jubilee Park. See the Summer in the Park Facebook page for details of what is on and when.
