The popular Kaimai Classic will be jointly hosted for the 32nd time by the Mount Maunganui and Omanu Golf Clubs tomorrow and Sunday.
The lead management of the tournament is alternated between the two and continues a great working relationship between the clubs. A field of more than 200 players will contest the 36-hole stableford tournament, which involves playing 18 holes on each course over the weekend.
Played in up to five divisions made up of three men's and one or two women's, the traditional winning (stableford) prize for each division remains a Golf Buggy, supported by an extensive range of subsidiary prizes.
For 2015 the gross competition is across the full men's and women's fields, with each having good numbers of low handicap golfers which means a good contest is likely. Competitors have entered from 44 clubs with more expected.
A pleasing and welcome addition to the tournament for 2015 is the involvement of two highly-valued sponsors in Sheaff Vehicles Ssangyong (manager Mike Sheaff) and Pacific Coast Village (manager Bruce Fleming.)
