Day five of the 10th AIMS Games was completed yesterday under grey skies but the threat of rain never eventuated, to the delight of the 6500 competitors who have made this event easily the biggest of its type in the Southern Hemisphere.
Interest in this year's AIMS Games has far exceeded any of the previous events held since 2004.
Tournament director Vicky Semple said the number of hits on the AIMS Games website had been astounding.
"So far we have had 1.9 million hits on our website during September, which is a huge increase," Semple said. "It is only going to get bigger throughout the week as people need to check their pool play, cross overs and results, and things like that."
The cross country and swimming programmes were completed early in the week but the other 14 sports either finished up yesterday or were preparing for the finals.
