A woman was flown to Tauranga Hospital with serious arm injuries yesterday after a rafting accident.
The Tauranga based Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter was dispatched yesterday afternoon to a gorge south of Te Puke and west of Te Matai Rd in the Western Bay of Plenty where the 31-year-old was.
Ambulance officers were unable to reach the woman by foot so the rescue helicopter was called to the incident and used the Port of Tauranga rescue winch to lower a paramedic to tend to the patient before she was winched into the helicopter.
She was flown to Tauranga hospital for further treatment.
It was unknown how she sustained the injuries.
