A large plastics fire in Kopu, battled by 14 fire crews late last week, was one of a number of call outs for the Whangamata fire brigade recently.
Chief fire officer Nigel Airey said the brigade responded to nine call outs in February and early March.
These included a rubbish fire that threatened vegetation, medical call outs and an unauthorised barbecue on the beach.
He said the brigade also attended a ruptured vehicle petrol tank which leaked in Port Rd, Main St.
The brigade was called to help with the large plastics fire in Kopu on Thursday so to relieve the first responding crews.
