Water main break in Totara St, Mount Maunganui

Tauranga City Council is urging motorists heading from Mount Maunganui into the city this morning to avoid Totara St after a water main break last night.

A fix for the broken water main on Totara St was in place in the early hours of this morning. Full reinstatement of the road is expected by 12pm today, the council said in a Facebook post.

The left turn onto Hewletts Rd and cycle path will remain closed until all work is complete.

Motorists heading from Mount Maunganui into the city centre are advised to use Hull Rd and Newton St and to avoid Totara St if possible.

Totara St will remain open in both directions, however at the Hewletts Rd intersection, the left turn, the straight-ahead lane, the cycle lane, and the footpath will be closed while repairs are underway.
