A cute seal delighted onlookers at Pilot Bay this morning.
The seal created a bit of a stir as it splashed around under the wharf, delighting people fishing and drawing people in off the boardwalk to have a look.
Seals are a regular sight around Mount Maunganui at this time of year.
Department of Conservation Tauranga operations ranger Karl McCarthy says seals typically "haul out" in winter months and an influx of juveniles was expected as pups were weaned off their mums and began dispersing.
