Waihi keeps on keeping itself beautiful.
Despite the Covid-19 level alerts, the tidy-conscious Keep Waihi Beautiful teams are still out in force cleaning up their various patches to keep the town as nice as possible.
Groups of volunteers — including a number of little tidy Kiwis — banded together, donned their cleaning gear and recently picked up litter around Parry Palm Drive, Goldfields Railway, Rocket Park and schools cleaned up their grounds including Waikino School, St Joseph's School (who also did Gilmour Reserve) and Waimata School.
Keep Waihi Beautiful chairwoman Anne Marie Spicer says they couldn't hold their annual Big Clean Up this year.
"This event is always a lot of fun, but usually brings together well over 100 people so we couldn't risk it and decided to do something different this time. It was heartening to see so many people clean up their own patch, or an area of their choice in their smaller groups and it was brilliant to see every local primary school involved too.''
