A ute was spotted precariously perched on the edge of Papamoa sand dunes this morning.
A police spokeswoman said they had received several calls about the stuck Ford, which was "hanging" over a 6m slope to the beach below.
She understood the vehicle got stuck overnight near the beach access closest to Sunrise Ave, off Maranui St.
The owner had been found and was securing the vehicle and arranging a tow, she said. The ute was gone by 10.30am.
A runner who called the Bay of Plenty Times after spotting the ute said it was a "spectacular sight".
