A person has been flown to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition and another has been taken via ambulance with moderate injuries following a crash near Whiritoa.

A police spokeswoman said two people were injured, including one seriously, in a motorcycle crash which happened just before 2pm on Waihi/Whangamata Rd.

There was no indication any other vehicle was involved and the cause of the crash was being investigated, she said.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said St John were notified at 1.51pm, with two ambulance crews attending and treating two patients at the scene.

The more seriously injured patient was flown to Waikato Hospital by air ambulance at 3.10pm, and the other transported by road, the St John spokeswoman said.
