A woman was flown to Tauranga Hospital after she suffered multiple injuries including a fractured elbow after slipping on rocks while tramping near Ngamuwahine.
The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was called to Ngamuwahine in the Lower Kaimai after a 71-year-old slipped and fell on rocks yesterday.
A rescue helicopter spokesperson said the woman was extracted from her location by the Port of Tauranga rescue winch.
"She had suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured elbow and was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital for treatment," the spokesperson said.
Earlier the same day, the rescue helicopter transported a 30-year-old man with a serious injury to his hand from Tauranga Hospital to Waikato Hospital for specialist treatment.
