A broken down cement truck is blocking a lane on Takitimu Dr.

The truck is stopped 300m south of Elizabeth St in the northbound lane, a police spokeswoman said.

She said the engine was smoking but firefighters have put it out. They were called to the scene at 9.04am followed by police at 9.16am.

No one was injured but there are long traffic delays for Mount Maunganui-bound traffic.

Police were working to have the truck removed.
