A 50km/h speed restriction, diversions and lane closures will be in place for the next few weeks while contractors clear vegetation and carry out other work in preparation for the construction of the Maungatapu underpass.
The work will be carried out on weekdays between the hours of 9am and 4pm to minimise disruption to traffic.
SH2 Tauranga to Waihi Safety Improvements
Stop/go traffic management, lane changes and speed restrictions will be in place along parts of SH2 between Tauranga and Waihi this month as a major safety improvement programme continues.
Contractors will be working on nine sites on the route and motorists are advised to allow an extra 10 minutes when travelling on this route. The work is expected to be complete by late September.
Tauranga CBD - ROAD CLOSURES
A number of streets will be closed in Tauranga's central business district on Sunday August 30 when the Bay of Plenty Steamers take on the Waikato Mooloos at Tauranga Domain.
Road closures include:
• Cameron Rd (between Hamilton and Brown St), Park St, Monmouth St, McLean St (between Cameron Rd and Willow St), Harrington St (between Cameron Rd and Durham St), Hamilton St (the section from Cameron Rd adjacent to Wharepai Domain) and Chapel St/Brown St intersection (Cameron Rd to Brown St), from 11.30am - 5.30pm
The Strand (between Harrington St and Devonport Rd), Wharf and Hamilton St (between Willow St and The Strand), from 10am - 3.30pm
Residents will be able to access houses and/or their place of business, but there will be no access via Cameron Road (unless you live on Hamilton St). Vehicle access may be restricted if there is a high volume of foot traffic.
