One of the strongest assets for the Bay of Plenty is its natural resources and innovative population. From growing fruit to developing robotics, our region boasts an array of businesses which are securing a good future for our communities.
I had the privilege of showing our Minister for Economic Development, Steven Joyce, around the region last Friday where we visited a number of these businesses, including Ballance Agri-Nutrients and Robotics Plus. We are home to hardworking, innovative people in the Bay and it was a pleasure to show this to Steven Joyce.
We also met with numerous business leaders at a breakfast meeting who reflected a strong confidence in our region. With the Bay's economic activity up around 5% higher than the year before, $5 million more worth in cruise ship tourism coming to town in 2015/16, surging building consent numbers and house sales, our region's success is the sum of each individual's hard work here.
We are in good stead - lots of opportunity and activity abound.
