Tighter restrictions have this morning been put in place for retailers of legal highs in the Western Bay of Plenty.
In a Western Bay of Plenty District Council meeting held today, councillors have ruled retailers of psychoactive substances will only be able to sell the product from the Katikati and Te Puke commercial hubs.
It was decided that within Katikati, sale of the legal highs will only be allowed on the current site of the existing retailer located on the corner of State Highway 2 and Hyde St.
Councillors then broke for morning tea.
It was expected that similar restrictions will be put in place for Te Puke retailers when the meeting resumed this morning.
