Now that it is school holidays, I am able to gather my thoughts and put pen to paper, to say a huge thank you to Greenpark School, Tauranga.
About a month ago our school office received an email from Mrs Valois, a teacher at Greenpark School, wishing to make contact with a Year 2 class.
The Year 2 children at her school had made "cushions" to help soothe the weary heads of our earthquake-rattled children in Heathcote.
A few weeks later the cushions arrived (couriered free) and we carried them in their boxes to our school assembly. Each child in my class was presented with a beautifully hand-painted cushion, all with a label attached (with red and black ribbon no less) including a photo of the child who had made it.
To say we were blown away is an understatement. The other teachers at my school were understandably jealous, and Room 2 spent the next few days walking around feeling very smug and well-loved.
The thoughtfulness of the Mrs Valois and her class is humbling and I wish to publicly say thank you for such a kind gesture.
We are currently in the process of writing thank-you cards and making a book of our earthquake stories to send to Greenpark School.
