Tauranga 105-year-old Jemima King gets a second letter from the Queen as she celebrates her milestone birthday.

1. Victim in Tauranga marae homicide case named The 37-year-old woman who died at Huria Marae in Judea was Ariana Eve Mahu fromTauranga. Police were called to the marae at 11.50pm on Thursday after the victim is alleged to have suffered critical injuries to her neck. She did not survive. Ms Mahu was a mother of two and a "second mum to all of her nieces and nephews, and all children who were naturally drawn to her".

Crash victim Dylan James Williams should have been celebrating his 25th birthday Dylan James Williams should have celebrated his 25th birthday on Monday, catching up with family and enjoying a few beers with his friends. It was a milestone he never got to reach. Instead, Dylan's loved ones are mourning his death after he was killed when the light truck he was driving went off a farm track in a remote part of Gisborne and rolled down a bank, tumbling more than 20 metres on Sunday morning.

3. Armed police shutdown residential Tauranga street A man was arrested after a dawn raid at a Welcome Bay property on Wednesday. A resident said she could hear police negotiating with someone through a megaphone or loudspeaker about 6.30am, telling the person to "come out" and they were "surrounded by armed police".

Tauranga 105-year-old Jemima King gets a second letter from the Queen With some help from a walker, birthday girl Jemima King makes her way along the hallway with ease – her purple slippers padding quietly across the carpet. She has done plenty of walking in her 105 years. "That's what your legs are for," she says matter of factly. "Use them. If you don't use it, you lose it."
