1. Victim in Tauranga marae homicide case named
The 37-year-old woman who died at Huria Marae in Judea was Ariana Eve Mahu from Tauranga. Police were called to the marae at 11.50pm on Thursday after the victim is alleged to have suffered critical injuries to her neck. She did not survive.
Ms Mahu was a mother of two and a "second mum to all of her nieces and nephews, and all children who were naturally drawn to her".

2. Crash victim Dylan James Williams should have been celebrating his 25th birthday
Dylan James Williams should have celebrated his 25th birthday on Monday, catching up with family and enjoying a few beers with his friends. It was a milestone he never got to reach.
Instead, Dylan's loved ones are mourning his death after he was killed when the light truck he was driving went off a farm track in a remote part of Gisborne and rolled down a bank, tumbling more than 20 metres on Sunday morning.

4. Tauranga 105-year-old Jemima King gets a second letter from the Queen
With some help from a walker, birthday girl Jemima King makes her way along the hallway with ease – her purple slippers padding quietly across the carpet. She has done plenty of walking in her 105 years.
"That's what your legs are for," she says matter of factly. "Use them. If you don't use it, you lose it."

5. Poll: National leadership - who would you like to see win?
There was a five-way race for the National Party leadership following the retirement of current Opposition leader and former Prime Minister Bill English earlier this month. Before Simon Bridges was announced as leader, we asked readers who was their preferred choice by taking part in a poll.
