More stoned drivers are being caught in Tauranga than anywhere else in the country.
A total of 139 people in the Bay of Plenty have been charged for driving under the influence of drugs since the introduction of a anti-drug-driving law in November 2009.
In April, the Bay of Plenty Times reported 116 drivers were caught under the influence of drugs in the Bay of Plenty, mostly the Western Bay.
The figure grew by 23 as of July 31 this year.
A breakdown of the figures showed 88 of the Bay of Plenty drugged drivers has THC (cannabis) in their system, 4 had opiates, 29 had stimulants and 3 had sedatives.
