A revealing "wall of shame" has laid bare why many prominent Tauranga residents have felt let down by successive city councils.
Tauranga's reputation for dragging the chain to build civic amenities that other New Zealand cities took for granted has emerged in revealing interviews with a cross-section of 42 people, including some key city leaders.
The interviews conducted by Mark Buntzen from The Distillery, a company which distilled ideas, revealed the whole fabric of what people were thinking when quizzed on the proposed new museum and city library.
Along with many enthusiastic insights and ideas about the projects, frustrations also emerged about why facilities like a museum had struggled to reach fruition.
Dubbed the "wall of shame", dozens of comments were listed under themes that emerged from the interviews. They have gone on display in the Devonport Rd engine room dedicated to community feedback on the council's Heart of the City cultural facilities project.
