The Waioraka Reserve Walkway in Welcome Bay will be temporarily closed to allow improvement works to take place.

The walkway, between Welcome Bay Rd and Orion Way Drainage Reserve, will be closed between 7.30am and 5pm each day for the next four to five weeks.

This will allow Tauranga City Council contractors to widen, resurface and improve the gradient of the walkway, making it more user-friendly for pedestrians and cyclists.

A new connection from the existing bridge to Sunnybrooke Cls and Orion Drive will also be established as part of the project.

Signs and barriers will be in place to inform users of the closure.

The walkway will remain open after-hours and during weekends.
