Two weeks after the terror attacks in Christchurch, a national remembrance service will be held in Hagley Park to pay tribute to the 50 people who lost their lives.
This Friday, Bay of Plenty residents are invited to stand in solidarity alongside the country at Baypark Arena where a simulcast of the memorial service will be screened.
The Tauranga and Western Bay mayors have extended the invitation after Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced there would be a national remembrance service for the victims of the Christchurch terrorist attack and all those affected on March 29.
Tauranga City Mayor Greg Brownless said the details of Friday's memorial service will be announced later this week.
"We are asking people to join us from 9.30am on Friday to watch the simulcast that starts at 10am."
