Tauranga's swimming pools and event venues are to be managed by a new consolidated company, following a Tauranga City Council review.
Tauranga City Aquatics Ldt (TCAL), which manages the city's swimming pools, will be merged with Tauranga City Venues Ltd (TCVL), which manages TECT Arena and Baypark, in July next year.
The council's venues and events activities, excluding Baycourt, will also be transferred to the new Council Controlled Company, as will the council's indoor space activities.
The new company will employ 140 full and part time staff, 40 casual staff and 80 contractors.
It will manage assets valued at between $140 million and $160 million.
Staff positions at TCAL and TCVL will not be effected by the changes, and staff in council's venue and events activities department will be offered similar positions at the new company.
