Thousands of women, children and men have transformed central Tauranga into a moving sea of pink.

The crowd has gathered for the 2015 HOT Pink Walk, aimed at raising money and awareness for breast cancer research.

A reporter at the scene said the crowd was excited and lively with lots of wigs and bras being worn over tops.

A minute's silence was held for local women who lost their battle with breast cancer.
