A Tauranga man convicted of molesting a teenage girl after grooming her and indecently assaulting another girl after a jury trial in March has been jailed for three years eight months.
Aden Travis Kingi, 29, who was sentenced in Tauranga District Court today, was found guilty of charges of sexual grooming, doing an indecent act and unlawful sexual connection with a girl aged between 12 and 16, and indecent assault. He was acquitted in relation to further charges of indecent assault and assault with intent to commit sexual violation.
The offences were committed between 2010 and 2012. Part way through his trial Kingi was discharged on one count of attempted kidnapping, after the jury heard evidence from a 12-year-old girl about an encounter she had with him while biking on Ohauiti Rd on February 11, 2013.
