Tauranga parents will be able to have their say on plans to extend paid parental leave to 26 weeks, when Labour MP Sue Moroney visits the city tomorrow.
A public meeting on the topic will be hosted by 26 for Babies Coalition which involves organisations like Plunket, Barnados and local unions.
Anyone wanting to support the push for 6 months paid parental leave is urged to attend Wednesday's meeting.

"We want all babies in Tauranga to get the best start in life and a successful push for better support for working families is one way local people can achieve this" said Ms Moroney.
The Labour MP recently had her proposal pass its first hurdle in Parliament by one vote and says it is now time for people in Tauranga to have their say.
"The proposal is now open for public submissions and I know there is a high value placed on the role of parenting in Tauranga" Ms Moroney said.
I am looking forward to talking through the details with people.
"I'm keen to hear from prospective parents, current parents, grandparents and anyone who cares about the future of our country."
The meeting will take place in the Schoolhouse at the Historic Village, 17th Ave West on Wednesday October 7th at 4pm. Children are welcome.
