Flights are delayed at Tauranga Airport this afternoon after a plane suffered trouble with a wheel while coming into land.
A Tauranga Airport spokeswoman said a plane had arrived with a smoking wheel but landed safely. No one was injured and the incident ''wasn't too big''.
The incident has resulted in 15 minutes of delays for flights this afternoon, she said.
A Tauranga City Council spokesman confirmed the Air New Zealand Q300 Aircraft had smoke coming off one of its tyres upon landing.
An airport fire truck was sent out as a precaution. An engineer will check the wheels this afternoon, he said.
