After days of brilliant sunshine, Tauranga looks to be dampened by rain at the start of this week as autumn rolls on and summer becomes a distant memory.
MetService meteorologist April Clark said the weather had been stable in the Bay of Plenty recently, thanks to a ridge of high pressure.
The change in weather was due to a band of rain with a low-pressure front which was set to sweep over the North Island this week.
The sluggish front swept over Taranaki and Wellington yesterday and was due to hit the Bay of Plenty, particularly in the east, today.
The front was moving slowly meaning the woolly weather would persist until the low pressure cleared.
