Movie nights are perfect for chilly autumn and winter weather.

The Cult Cinema Club returns for its third film season at Tauranga's Historic Village from April to September.

Every Saturday fortnight, with films screening inside the recently refurbished Village Cinema, the main street of the village will host an artisan street food truck, pop-up licensed bar, candy bar and music from 5.30pm.

The movies run rain or shine.

This year there's an eclectic programme of films, launched this Saturday with the screening of cult indie classic Donnie Darko.

"The main priority when curating each film season programme is for the films to be accessible and inclusive for all demographics and cinematic tastes," says Cult Cinema Club director Melanie Mills.

"This season we are screening arthouse films, music and surfing documentaries, zombies, manga and old-school classics - all cult-status with a respective following, so hopefully there's something there for everyone to enjoy."

Cult Cinema Club supports and promotes local filmmakers, screening a locally-produced short film before each feature movie.

Membership can be purchased for a one-off fee of $35 to receive continuous members ticket discounts, benefits and promotions, or tickets can be purchased for $20 per person at www.cultcinemaclub.com.

Casablanca is one of the movies screening as part of the Cult Cinema Club season.
