Tauranga couple Anne and Al Gourley have lost out on winning $100,000 in prize money on reality show Our First Home - but they still made a $143,500 profit.
The couple entered the 10-week competition with daughter Amy and her husband Matt to help get the young couple on the property ladder by buying and renovating an Auckland home.
The Gourleys have been competing against two other families - the Schreuders and Wardlaws - and the team that makes the biggest percentage gain at auction will take home an additional $100,000 prize towards a first-home deposit.
Tonight, the Schreuders' Titirangi home sold for $721,000 with a profit of $190,400 - adding 35.88 per cent of value.
The three-bedroom Avondale home the Gourleys renovated was auctioned live on TV One on Sunday night for $720,500 - a profit of $143,500, adding 24.87 per cent of value to their property.
