Monday, August 29, marks the SPCA's third annual Cup Cake Day.

Every year, this event is getting bigger and bigger, with cooks all over the country dusting off their cooking utensils and pulling out those necessary ingredients to make the best cup cakes ever.

It is very simple, all you need to do is register online or you are welcome to come down to the shelter and register with us.

Once registered, you will have access to the members only page which provides resources for you such as posters and stickers to help you in your quest to sell lots of cup cakes, we can also provide these for you at the shelter so please come and see us.

There is also a range of SPCA Cup Cake Day merchandise, from tea towels to oven mitts.

These are available to purchase online from the Cup Cake Day website ready for the big day or even just to decorate your kitchen.

On Cup Cake Day, you can sell your delicious cup cakes to everyone you know and put a smile on their faces and make a great start to the week.

The money you raise from selling your cup cakes will come back to the Tauranga shelter to help us care for the increasing numbers of animals that continue to need our help.

Please have a look at the SPCA Cup Cake Day website www.spcacupcakeday.co.nz for all the information you need for this fundraising event, there is lots of information, ideas and resources available to help you with this.

Thank you to all those cooks with their yummy recipes that have cooked their hearts out supporting this fundraiser in the previous two years.

We know we can count on you all again this year.

Please never forget we couldn't do what we do for the animals without your help.

Last week, I wrote about Storm and Sunny, our two Weimaraners that desperately required a loving, forever home.

I am thrilled to say they went to a home together in Auckland this week where they can look forward to a life on the beach and children to play with.

Thank you to everyone who inquired about these two lovely dogs.

Margaret Rawiri is the operations manager for the Tauranga SPCA.
