Tauranga police are warning car owners to be vigilant after an increase in the number of reports of thefts from vehicles.
Senior Sergeant Rob Glencross said areas of Bethlehem, the CBD, and the Avenues have seen a noticeable increase in thefts from vehicles in the last two weeks.
Bethlehem, in particular the areas of St Andrews Drive, Bethlehem Heights, and the Athfield Drive area, had seen the most noticeable increase, Mr Glencross said.
Disappointingly, many of the cars affected were being left unlocked with property inside, he said.
People are reminded to remove valuable items from their vehicles and to ensure their cars are locked at any time they are being left unattended.
