Last Sunday marked seven years since National was elected to Government and I was elected as the Member of Parliament for Tauranga. Since day one we've been busy working to deliver on our promises and achieve practical results that make a real difference.
A record $25 billion is now being invested in health and education every year. Our dedication to education is ensuring our young people are getting a better education and achieving better qualifications.
More people are getting the operations they need. We're delivering around 50,000 more elective surgeries a year than in 2008, as well as ensuring cancer patients are getting treatment faster.
As a result of our responsible management we're helping New Zealanders build a more prosperous country. We've turned the Government's books around and achieved surplus for the 2014/15 year - one of the few developed countries to do so after the Global Financial Crisis.
Tauranga has benefitted significantly from the National-led Government. We've seen a new $21m Police Station, a cancer centre at Tauranga Hospital, and the launch of the Western Bay of Plenty Trades Academy, just to name a few.
